Even my cultivating memories, now. When I moved into Daido's monastery, ZMM, in '85, one of the few books I braught with me was Bro. David's, A LISTENING HEART.

It's sweet indeed to see you both together, speaking. No need to reduce this to mere memory, but without those many vistas of context I might have cause to complain. As it is, no complaint here.

I made a New Year's Resolution to end every day with a practice of gratefulness – counting at least three blessings for that day. I have missed some days! But, I am aware at night when I have not done the practice, which suggests some mindfulness of the practice is being established.

I like the simple but powerful notion that Brother David expressed: “Gratefulness is Acceptance of What Is”
