on friday, we go to chaco canyon where a thousand years ago, this thriving ceremonial center of hundreds of rooms, kivas, pueblos in outlying communities, and astronimical markers. huge sky, vast views, sun/moon directing the siting of buildings.

(thanks ottmar, for this lead)
on thursday, anna sofaer, who discovered the sun dagger at chaco, will be here sharing her decades of work in archeoastronomy on this magnificent site.
you ask: what has this to do with buddhism and social action. we practice in place; this is our place; it is also a world place that teaches us about the deep knowledge held by ancient scientists on how to actualize timebeing.

What a great place. Perfect for practicing, clearing out the debris from one’s mind, kind of like spring cleaning.
I have a question. What is a sun dagger?
